Responding to the cries of a struggling industry, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors voted Las Tuesday to slash the cannabis cultivation tax by 45% through June 30, 2023.
The Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) recently introduced a new comprehensive regulatory proposal to streamline cannabis regulations, bolster consumer protection, and solidify changes that are currently in effect on an emergency basis.
At least a dozen localities have altered their tax rates and/or called for statewide reform.
Change has been slow in the OC, but it’s coming.
It’s not just marijuana use that can get you barred from a high-level government job.
“We’re up against the gun,” said Councilman Christian Horvath, referring to the ballot initiative.
It’s about to become a lot harder to enter California’s legal cannabis market.
