SLO Approves New Tax Compliance Program for Cannabis Businesses
Cannabis businesses in San Luis Obispo County must adhere to a new tax compliance program beginning October 14, 2022.
A Cannabis Tax Compliance fee of $3,918 will be required for each cannabis business license each year, including at time of renewal. The fee is levied on top of the existing annual business license fee, which is $44 for each new license and $34 per license renewal.
In another change, the Board eliminated the California Cannabis Authority (CCA) fee. That is now included in the new Compliance fee and will be used to fund a field audit program for cannabis businesses.
“In addition to the new Cannabis Tax Compliance fee, the Board also approved changes to required cannabis fees administered by other County departments,” according to a press release.
