Ojai Mulls Cannabis Consumption Lounges
The charming town of Ojai in Ventura County may be the next city to allow marijuana consumption lounges.
Ojai city leaders seem to be pursuing the prospect thoughtfully. Initially, they were looking only to allow edible consumption at the city’s three licensed dispensaries, as recommended by the Planning Commission. However, “that proposal was rejected Tuesday night, and the council requested additional time to reach out to the city’s three dispensaries to get a better idea of what the lounges might look like,” according to the Los Angeles Times.
If Ojai ultimately allows consumption lounges, it will be part of a growing trend. Cities like West Hollywood, San Francisco, Oakland, South Lake Tahoe, National City, Palm Springs, and Port Hueneme have already embraced the on-site consumption model.
“This is pretty obviously the way things are going to go in the future, and I don’t want to be left behind,” said Ojai City Councilman Ryan Blatz.
