Interactive Map Shows MJ’s Legal Status in Every City and County

Marijuana policy is ever-changing, and it can be hard to keep track of which cities and counties permit retail. Now, the Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) is offering a new tool to help Californians parse the different regulations in various localities.

DCC provides a map showing marijuana’s status in every county and city in the state.

The website also offers these statistical highlights:

-44% of cities and counties allow at least one type of cannabis business
-56% of cities and counties do not allow any type of cannabis business
-62% of cities and counties do not allow any retail cannabis business
-Due to these limits, there are less than 4.3 retail licenses per 100K people in California (as of May 2022)

DCC also helps users locate licensed marijuana dispensaries and provides information on how to start a cannabis business in California.
