SLO Sued After Revoking Marijuana Business License

A San Luis Obispo cannabis business is suing the city for revoking its license following the conviction of its former owner on bribery charges.

Natural Healing Center (NHC) was formerly owned by Helios “Bobby” Dayspring, who pleaded guilty to tax evasion and bribery charges last year. Dayspring admitting to bribing the late San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Adam Hill and attempting to bribe former Grover Beach Mayor John Shoals. He also failed to report millions of dollars in taxable income.

But according to NHC, Dayspring was no longer the owner of the company by the time its marijuana permit was issued. NHC says it was entitled to some degree of due process before having its license revoked.

City Attorney Christine Dietrick has defended the city’s position.

“We think that the city has acted fairly, appropriately, and in a way that’s legally supportable,” she told the San Luis Obispo Tribune.
