Nearly Half of Americans Want to Live Where Pot is Legal

Marijuana’s legal status could have some influence on where Americans decide to live. And when choosing a state, more Americans say they’d rather live where marijuana is decriminalized than in states where it remains illegal.

That’s according to a new Redfin survey of individuals who had recently relocated. Just 22% said they would want to live in a state where cannabis is completely illegal. 46% prefer to live where cannabis is “fully legal.” 32% said they have no preference.

Recreational cannabis is currently legal in 18 states plus Washington, D.C. Many more have legalized medical use.

The Redfin survey also examined movers’ attitudes about state abortion laws and voting rights. Read more here.
