Siskiyou targets water trucks in fight against illegal marijuana

Siskiyou supervisors have come up with a new plan to to combat illegal marijuana cultivation in the county. By targeting water trucks, they’re hoping to cut the grows off at the source.

Supervisor Ed Valenzuela told Jefferson Public Radio that water trucks often use rural county roads to deliver the precious resource to marijuana farms. Under the new ordinance, those trucks are prohibited from using certain roads in unincorporated Siskiyou.

A truck carrying 100 or more gallons of water will be fined $100 if it's caught driving on one of these roads. Whether such a minimal fine will be enough of a deterrent remains to be seen.
