Wildomar Planning Commission Expected to Support Hemp Ban

Wildomar’s Planning Commission will vote on a resolution Wednesday prohibiting industrial hemp cultivation within city limits. The resolution is expected to get a majority of the Commission's support.

A moratorium on hemp growing is set to expire next year in Wildomar. City staff is not eager to put a new regulatory system in place. Instead, staff has recommended an amendment to the Wildomar Municipal Code that would prohibit industrial hemp cultivation in all zoning districts. The city has cited a lack of interest, as well as public health and safety concerns.

Unlike hemp — which has been legalized at the federal level — cannabis sales, cultivation, and manufacturing are permitted and regulated in Wildomar.
