Humboldt Deputies Destroy Over 68,000 Plants in Fortuna Cannabis Raid

Humboldt County sheriff’s deputies destroyed some 68,217 marijuana plants, over 338 pounds of packaged bud, around 137 pounds of dried cannabis, and over 107 pounds of shake during a Fortuna raid on Feb. 2.

The raid took place at an illegal grow site at the 100 block of Airport Road. The operation was carried out by the department’s Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) following numerous community complaints. There were no arrests, according to the department, but the case has been referred to the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.

The MET is a special unit within the county sheriff’s department that investigates commercial cannabis cultivation violations. MET deputies work with numerous agencies to investigate and serve warrants at properties where suspected illicit cultivation is taking place.
