New Prop 65 Label Requirements Could Cause Problems for Hemp Industry

This month, a new law took effect mandating Prop 65 warning labels for virtually every cannabis product on the market. As Marijuana Business Daily reports, the requirement is likely to create headaches for hemp-derived CBD producers whose products contain trace amounts of THC.

“They’re probably the ones who are going to be caught unaware by this,” said Lara DeCaro, a San Francisco attorney who represents the marijuana industry.

The marijuana industry is largely aware of the new rules, but many hemp companies don’t realize it applies to them.
