Georgia Senate Races Could Shape Future of Cannabis Reform

Georgia senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler are both up for re-election Tuesday. The outcome of those races will determine the makeup of the U.S. Senate, and that could have major implications for federal marijuana reform.

The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives passed a federal marijuana decriminalization bill in December. Republican control of the Senate is what has stopped the MORE Act from advancing to the president’s desk.

Democrats Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock are challenging Perdue and Loeffler. If both of them could pull out a win — a tall order in the traditionally red state — they would flip the Senate blue.

Ossoff and Warnock are both on record supporting either marijuana legalization or decriminalizaiton. You can read more about thier positions here.
