Santa Ana Police Raid Two Collectives
The raids on medical marijuana dispensaries in Orange County continue.
The OC Weekly has reported that two dispensaries, Wax On Wax and LOL, were stormed in on by Santa Ana PD on claims that they were operating illegally.
This isn’t the first pot shop in the area to be raided. In 2015, after Sky High Holistic, also in Santa Ana, was raided for similar claims. Video footage of the incident revealed Santa Ana officers eating marijuana edibles that they were supposed to be confiscating. Three officers have since been charged with stealing the items.
Santa Ana allows 20 shops to have permits to operate, and neither of these shops were allowed to do so. Additionally, it is alleged that the shops were selling medicine to customers regardless of having proper recommendations.
The conflict between the collective and Santa Ana police has occurred since 2009 with cease and desist letters even being issued but without consequence.
