Cannabis and Concussions: NHL ALumni to Participate in Brain Study

The National Hockey League Alumni Association (NHLAA) says it will partner with MSO Canopy Growth to help determine whether cannabinoids can be used to treat post-concussion neurological disease.

100 former NHL players will enter a randomized, double-blind study to see how cannabinoids impact players suffering from concussion-related issues in the brain.

Research has been ongoing for the past two years. The involvement of the NHLAA could be a game changer for retired players, who have a high rate of concussion injury and associated neurological disease.
