Poll: MORE Act Has Support From 59% of Voters
A House bill that would remove cannabis from the Controlled Substances Act is supported by a majority of voters, new polling shows. The survey from Data for Progress and the Justice Collaborative Institute shows overall support for the Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act at 59%. That includes 53% of Republicans.
The last round of polling showed 62% support for the MORE Act, with 60% of Republicans and 74% of Democrats favoring the bill.
The latest poll also shows 60% of voters believe drug use should be treated as a public health issue, rather than a criminal one. 67% say the federal government should respect states’ rights regarding marijuana policy.
The MORE Act was set to be voted on this week, but Democratic leaders in the House have postponed it.
