Massive Pot Bust Carried Out in Merced
The Merced County Sheriff’s Department says it seized 15,000 pounds of illicit cannabis and detained 15 suspects after executing search warrants on two large barns last week. The raid occurred at the 5700 block of West Highway 14.
“34,685 plants had been eradicated from a cornfield and 4,500 of dried product had been collected from the barns,” according to the depart. “Each of the plants typically yield 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana which is typically sold on the black market for $300.00 to $500.00 per pound.”
Altogether, the inventory could have yielded $15 million in profits.
