California CBD Bill On Hold

A bill that would legalize foods, drinks, and cosmetics containing hemp-derived CBD has been tabled by the Legislature as it tackles a mountain of coronavirus-related items.

The bill was authored by Assemblywoman Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters). It would establish testing requirements to ensure that products do not exceed 0.3% THC.

Supporters of the bill say the legislation would unleash enormous economic opportunity. Aguiar-Curry has noted that Californians are already getting these products shipped from out of state. A regulatory system here would not only produce economic benefits, but would better ensure the safety of California consumers.
