Santa Barbara Took in $2.86 Million From Cannabis Last Quarter

$2.86 million flowed into Santa Barbara County coffers last quarter as a result of commercial cannabis. That’s according to the latest quarterly figures presented to the county — and it’s better than Santa Barbara expected when it first adopted commercial cannabis regulations for its unincorporated areas.

Santa Barbara is now home to more legal marijuana grows than any other county in the state.

It’s not all smooth sailing. While Santa Barbara County is raking in the dough, cultivation has changed the landscape of much of the county and has created a backlash from some cities and residents. Wafting odors from cannabis cultivation sites and pesticide transfer from traditional crops are an ongoing issues.
