NFL Could Ease Pot Use Restrictions

The NFL may be ready to relax rules on cannabis use according to a proposed collective bargaining agreement that began circulating last week.

Under the proposal, which was approved by team owners, fewer players would be subjected to marijuana testing. A positive result would no longer mean automatic suspension and allowable levels of THC would increase from 35 to 150 nanograms.

If the NFL approves the final terms, it would join Major League Baseball in altering its official stance toward cannabis use. In December, the MLB removed marijuana from its list of banned substances.
