Marijuana Grow Casts Purple Haze Over Arizona Sky

An amazing sight over the night sky in Navajo County on Friday has people singing the 1970 Jimi Hendrix classic “Purple Haze.”

Social media went wild after the sky in Snowflake, Arizona turned an unbelievable violet hue. It led some to some wild speculation, in part because of a famous UFO encounter that allegedly took place in the area 45 years ago.

Navajo County officials have since confirmed that the phenomenon was caused by ultraviolet lights from a medical marijuana grow reflecting off snow clouds.
