CBD Products Are Being Spiked With Synthetic Marijuana

A frightening number of unregulated products marketed as CBD are being laced with dangerous substances, a new study has found.

The Associated Press (AP) commissioned testing of 350 CBD products across 13 states including California. The tests were conducted in government laboratories with the help of law enforcement.

128 samples out of 350 — both vapes and edibles — came back with traces of synthetic marijuana or “spice.” The substance has no relation to actual cannabis and can cause severe illness, even death.

Jay Jenkins knows all too well. He ended up in a coma last year after using an illicit vape laced with spice.

The cases examined by the AP are separate from a cluster of mysterious vape-related respiratory illnesses affecting hundreds of people across the U.S.
