A Christian Book Company is Fed Up With Requests for CBD

A Christian book company says it has been forced to change its name because people won’t stop calling to enquire about its non-existent cannabis products.

What do cannabis and Christian reading materials have in common? Not much. But in this case, it’s the company’s acronym that has sewn confusion. The company used to be known as Christian Book Distributors or CBD.

As in cannabidiol.

“A person may call up and say, ‘Hey, I’m looking for my order,’” the company’s president and CEO, Ray Hendrickson, told The New York Times. “It’s like, ‘What did you order? Oh, I ordered gummies. You don’t have the right company.’”

The company is now going by the name Christianbook. It hopes the new branding will cut down on the emails and phone calls.
