Thousands of Pot Plants Seized in Santa Barbara County Raids

Santa Barbara is No. 1 in the state for licensed marijuana farms. But the county has its fair share of illicit grows too. Authorities are now cracking down on the unpermitted cultivation sites, as well as growers who have been less than truthful on their permit applications.

Santa Barbara County Supervisor Das Williams says there have been about 30 raids, netting 775,000 plants so far. Many of them have been in the Carpentaria Valley in Williams’ district.

"The fact is, if you can't comply with county rules I think what this shows is, you will be raided,” Williams warned (KEYT).

Funding for the operations comes from a local cannabis tax which specifically carved out monies for enforcement.
