Santa Cruz Welcomes New Cannabis Licensing Manager

Santa Cruz County has hired consultant and geologist Samuel LoForti as its new Cannabis Licensing Manager. LoForti took over Dec. 3.

"Sam has demonstrated abilities in navigating all aspects of cannabis operations on behalf of clients," said County Administrative Officer Carlos J. Palacios. These include working with regulators, carrying out environmental site assessments, ensuring environmental compliance, and more.

In a statement, LoForti said he was looking forward to helping the county’s Cannabis Licensing Office implement new state and local regulations.

"By working with the industry and the community, we will continue to establish a regulatory framework that is a model throughout California."

LoForti earned his bachelor's degree in earth sciences from UC Santa Cruz. He is a former member of the California Construction and Industrial Materials Association, as well as a contributor to the California Stormwater Quality Association.
