Voters Say Yes to Greenhouse Pot Grows in Half Moon Bay
It was close, but Half Moon Bay voters appear to have approved a measure allowing the city to authorize and regulate greenhouse marijuana cultivation in the City's A-1 (Agricultural/Exclusive Floriculture) Zoning District.
Measure GG ended up with 51.82% approval after the Nov. 6 election, according to semi-official results updated on Nov. 16.
Struggling pumpkin farmers hoping to supplement some of their crops with cannabis were among those in favor of legalizing commercial greenhouse grows.
“If [the measure] doesn’t pass, there won’t be a pumpkin farm” anymore, farmer Eda Muller told officials and attendees at a city council meeting before the vote. “Put that in your pipe and smoke it.”
