MadMen Comes to the Bay Area

A cannabis giant worth an estimated $1.6 billion is making its first foray into the San Francisco Bay Area.

Los Angeles-based MadMen Enterprises Inc. signed an agreement Wednesday to acquire a dispensary from B12, LLC in Emeryville, California — one of only two licensed dispensaries in the city.

This is the ninth California dispensary for MadMen. The eight others are all located in Southern California. It also has stores in New York and Nevada.

In a press release, MadMen chief executive and founder Adam Bierman said he’s proud of the company’s expanding footprint. But the acquisition is also a reminder that, in the post-Prop. 64 era, big cannabis is king.

The new storefront will be located at 3996 San Pablo Avenue, across the street from the Bay Street Emeryville Shopping Center, and is expected to open sometime next year.
