Oakdale Welcomes Its First Pot Dispensary

The first adult use cannabis dispensary has opened in the City of Oakdale, with a second one soon to follow.

The People’s Remedy opened on Armstrong Way in Oakdale’s industrial neighborhood Tuesday. In addition to retail, the shop will cultivate and distribute cannabis to other dispensaries in Stanislaus County.

The development agreement between The People’s Remedy and Oakdale calls for $15,000 or 5.5 percent of gross receipts -- whichever is greater -- in public benefit fees to be paid by the shop. In the dispensary’s second year, the figure will become a flat rate of $27,500 per month and $43,000 per month the following year.

Oakdale’s second dispensary, Empire Health and Wellness, will open nearby in about six weeks.
