Fresno Reveals New Draft Marijuana Regs

Fresno has released a set of draft regulations for commercial cannabis businesses in the city. One catch: they don’t include retail marijuana shops.

The new regulations revealed Tuesday pertain only to cultivation, distribution, manufacturing, and testing businesses, as well as medicinal cannabis dispensaries.

Under the proposal, 14 medical marijuana establishments would eventually be allowed, with one in each of the city’s council districts, plus an optional additional business in each district after nine months. They cannot be located near a school, daycare, or youth center.

The city will gather public input on the draft rules Monday, Sept. 17 from 5-7 p.m. Voters will also have a chance to vote on Measure A this November, which authorizes the city to collect revenue from cannabis operations.
