Women who used cannabis during the first 12 years of their child’s life were more likely to have children who tried marijuana at an earlier age, according to a new study from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
This is the first study to link maternal marijuana use to children’s cannabis habits. It is also significant because, while experts generally have a benign view of recreational cannabis use in adulthood, the consensus is that childhood and adolescent marijuana use are harmful for the developing brain.
