Adult Use Sales Begin in Long Beach

Friday marked the beginning of recreational cannabis sales in Long Beach, California. After months of discussions, four adult use pot shops opened their doors in the city. Another 28 will eventually be allowed.

"The city of Long Beach is actually an early adopter of marijuana," said Long Beach Cannabis Program Manager Ajay Kolluri. "I'd say about 80 percent of California cities are still not allowing marijuana sales."

The eight-month delay in Long Beach was a result of prudence, as the city worked to hammer out final rules and details to ensure the public’s health and safety.

Long Beach’s dispensaries may be a little hard to spot if you don't know what you're looking for. That’s because the city prohibits visibility of the products from outside.
