85% of Americans Want to Legalize Medical Pot

When it comes to legalizing medicinal cannabis, by and large, Americans have formed a consensus. They approve.

A new Harris Poll conducted in collaboration with Health Day shows that 85% of Americans favor legalizing medicinal pot. Another 57% believe recreational use should also be legalized.

"Voters believe that ending America's failed marijuana prohibition laws is a common sense issue, not a partisan one," said NORML deputy director Paul Armentano in response to the study. "It's time for their elected officials to take a similar posture, and to move expeditiously to amend federal law in a manner that comports with public and scientific consensus, as well as with marijuana's rapidly changing cultural and legal status.”
