SF Brewery Ordered to Axe CBD-Infused Brews

A San Francisco brewing company that was manufacturing beer with hemp-derived CBD has received a stark ultimatum from the U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau: stop making the cannabeer or risk a shut-down.

Black Hammer Brewing says it will no longer be offering its “Toke Back Mountain” or other CBD/terpene-infused brews. But the company was allowed to sell of its remaining supply.

It’s worth noting that cannabis’ federal status as an illegal drug isn’t directly related to this decision. Alcohol manufacturers have strict guidelines they must adhere to, and that includes avoiding any ingredients not specifically listed without approval. CBD and terpenes aren’t on the TTB’S list of approved additives
