Hershey’s is Suing Some California Marijuana Brands
In a war between pot and chocolate, who would win? We’re about to find out.
The confections giant Hershey’s has sent cease and desist letters to two California cannabis edible companies, claiming their products -- which look an awful lot like Hershey’s kisses and other candies -- violate U.S. trademark laws.
The targets of Hershey’s ire are Oakland dispensary Harborside and another California edibles company called Good Girl Cannabis Co. According to High Times, the latter has already struck some sort of agreement with Hershey’s. Harborside, on the other hand, is putting up a fight.
“We stood up to the federal Department of Justice when they tried to close us down [in 2012],” said Harborside Executive Director Steve DeAngelo. “We are certainly not going to be intimidated by a candy company.”
