Legal Weed Begins in San Francisco

Good things come to those who wait.

Five days after the New Year began, San Francisco officially joined the legal marijuana club. Businesses began receiving licenses to sell recreational pot in the Bay City Friday. By Saturday, at least six dispensaries had opened their doors.

The fight for recreational pot in San Francisco was not an easy one. Despite the town’s historically progressive pot policies, it faced setbacks from a sizable Chinese-American community opposed to marijuana and city infighting over a marijuana equity program.

All things considered, five days late is pretty good.
