New Study Finds Links Between Pot and Cigarette Smoking

We might tend to think of tobacco and marijuana as polar opposites, but new research shows there couldn’t be anything further from the truth. The two are closely connected, with cigarette smokers being seven times more likely to also smoke marijuana on a daily basis.

The new study was published in the American Journal of Public Health. The correlations it found were strongest among minors.

The researchers also found that marijuana use -- and daily marijuana use in particular -- has increased across the board.

Medical marijuana businesses are currently banned in Kern County, but a medical marijuana advocacy group hopes it can collect enough signatures to give voters a chance to change that.
