All-Female Pot Biz to Set Up Shop in Berkeley

A medical cannabis collective made up entirely of women has applied for a permit in Berkeley, California.

Om Edibles is asking for local authorization, which it needs before obtaining a permit from the state. It plans to apply for a state license in January.

Owner Maya Elisabeth discussed some of the challenges of running a medical marijuana business with the Daily Californian. The industry is a “race to the top,” she said, with everyone competing for the gold. In the end, she said, it’s the medicine that matters.

Om Edibles has been producing medicinal cannabis edibles for dispensaries around the Bay Area since its establishment in 2008.
