San Marcos Bans Commercial Pot

In a unanimous vote, the City of San Marcos has banned all commercial marijuana activity within city limits. The ordinance, approved by the city council Tuesday, will outlaw dispensaries, cultivation, and cannabis delivery services.

San Marcos already had a moratorium in place. Tuesday’s vote codifies it as a permanent ordinance.

In banning commercial pot, the city is following in the footsteps of neighboring cities like Vista and Encinitas. San Diego, however, has chosen to legalize commercial cannabis activities.

Mayor Jim Desmond said that the six plants allotted to be grown at home for personal use under Prop. 64 is quite enough as far as he is concerned.
