Let’s Talk About Sex (and Cannabis)

Contrary to the popular belief that marijuana use decreases libido, a new study has found that regular cannabis users are having more sex on average than the typical person and that the drug may be stimulating sexual arousal.

The study was conducted by Stanford University and published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. 50,000 Americans aged 25 to 45 were asked about their cannabis habits and sex life for the research.

"We reported how often they smoke – monthly, weekly or daily – and how many times they've had sex in the last month," explained Dr. Michael Eisenberg, a urologist at Stanford University Medical Center and the senior author of the study. "What we found was compared to never-users, those who reported daily use had about 20 percent more sex. So over the course of a year, they're having sex maybe 20 more times."

That's nearly two more romps a month.

The study is already receiving its fair share of academic criticism. But if it contains even a grain of truth, it could hold some promise for the millions of men and women suffering from a low sex drive.
