Meet the Central California Flower Growers Trading Rosebuds for Pot

Flower growers in Central California who have been devastated by the importation of cheap blossoms from South America have a new lease on life, thanks to the power of marijuana. With the help of a Monterey County ordinance, they’re using their green thumbs to grow cannabis instead. And, as you can imagine, it’s paying off.

CalMarijuanaPolicy covered the ordinance, which allows for marijuana cultivation in existing greenhouses, back in March. KQED recently spoke to some of its beneficiaries to find out exactly how it’s working and to what end.
