Anti-Prop 64 Group to be Investigated by FPPC

An anti-pot group is being investigated by the Fair Political Practices Commission for allegedly failing to disclose how it is funding a campaign against California’s recreational marijuana legalization measure, Proposition 64.

The FPPC confirmed the probe in a letter to attorneys for the ballot measure Monday after they complained that the anti-legalization group, Smart Approaches to Marijuana, had failed to disclose contributions on time and did not account for $149,850 in spending.

While opening the investigation, the FPPC says it has not made any determination as to the validity of the allegations.
